"the looking glass."
solo gallery exhibit
G R A N D S U C C E S S ! !
I have been working on this book project since May and I can't believe the ride is over. Well, the ride to completion. There's still more to be done with this book, like figure out how to get it on shelves, places online to publish it, etc etc. But the vast majority is done and I'm very happy with the finished product.
Looking back at the very beginning when all I had was one portrait session done, a few words of wisdom from my model, a blank canvas, and a million ideas - to see all of that transfer to this book and gallery exhibit, it just blows my mind. I typically don't boast about my own work but I can't resist to but to express how proud I am of myself. I've accomplished self-publishing, creating my first photography book and had my first solo exhibition at the age of twenty-three (eight days before my birthday!). I've received so many kind messages, emails, and a card that have lifted my spirits and gave me the boost I needed to feel confident in myself as an artist and photographer. I feel confident to be able to move forward and do more things at this magnitude because now I have learned that it's all very possible.
I've said it a thousand times, but it will never end - thank you so so so so so much to all of those that were a part of this project and have given me their undying love and support throughout this whole process. Thank you Engine Room Art Space and Emily Jones for giving me this amazing opportunity to show Hagerstown, MD my work and my book and for all of your help to make my show a success. Thank you to my dearest friend, Carleigh and her wonderful mother, for helping me with refreshments and providing your amazing culinary skills to make my viewers (and myself) very happy with your tasty food. But especially, thank you Carleigh for coming over and helping me with my project and providing me with amazing advice. You've helped me push through barriers in this book that I'm not sure I would have been able to on my own. And a big thank you to my boyfriend, my sun and stars, for your love and support this entire summer. Thank you for understanding how stressed I've been and my emotional roller coasters while trying to get this project to the capacity that I wanted it to. Thank you for being there and being so incredibly helpful every single day. I love you so much.
Okay. Now that I'm done rambling and trying not to cry, here are the images from my event! Thank you to those who made it out to see it! It will still be up until October 3rd if you want to swing by! It's on 36 N. Potomac St, Hagerstown, MD at the Engine Room Art Space! <3
I'm happy as a clam.
